5 Steps to Achieving Inner Peace


Inner peace is highly desired by many but does not come easy. Besides the inner blockages that could be obstructing the way to peace and calmness, there are so many forces working against us in our daily lives as well. So how do we achieve inner peace?

Below are five of my favourite steps that will help any person feel peaceful, calm and relaxed.

1. Set Limits and Slow Down

Life can be filled with a thousand things to do in a day, each one more important than the next. If you do not set limits you will be over worked, over burdened and over drained. Decide on what is most important to accomplish and set your limits so that you are able to get them done. This may mean saying no to some people and it may mean saying no to yourself (such as checking your emails 20 times a day).

Prioritize, set your limits and slow down the pace. This will take a huge load off your mind and allow your body to relax a little. Set a small amount of time aside in between each task to take a few deep breathes, chew your food and stretch your body. Doing this alone will make a big difference in your state of mind.

2. Adopt a Relaxation Technique

Everyone needs a good relaxation technique that works for them. There are numerous to choose from and you may need to try one or two to find one that fits into your lifestyle. Some popular choices are:

  • meditation
  • deep breathing
  • visualization
  • exercise
  • brainwave audios

I tend to use a combination of all of these depending on my mood and my time frame. However the one single technique that I can always count on working instantly is my binaural beats brainwave audios. So often we fall short of experiencing inner peace because there is a blockage within the subconscious mind. This can stop you from moving forward and feeling truly happy. To remove these blocks can be difficult and frustrating but very possible. There are numerous methods for clearing blockages but once again I have found that binaural beats are extremely effective in doing this as well.

5. Escape

When trying to work on yourself you usually don’t want to escape but rather to tune within. However sometimes an escape can literally save you from the mind chatter and stress of daily life. Escapes could include anything from:

  • reading a book
  • taking a walk
  • watching TV
  • going to a movie
  • calling a friend

Do whatever you need to do to take your mind off of yourself and onto something else. This mental break will greatly improve your chances of relaxing and feeling peaceful.

The bottom line is that inner peace usually doesn’t just happen; it takes a little bit of work. However once you have adopted the above techniques into your life, you can count on feeling more calm, peaceful and happy.
